My Current Rant

Searching for a good read? Tired of apocalyptic doom and gloom or dystopian worlds of despair? Fed up with tawdry tales of dysfunctional families and depressing characters? Need a refreshing break from today’s tragedies?

One could become jaded looking at what’s being offered today. Even the YA novels seem grim and so gritty one wouldn’t the grandkids finding them in the house. So here we are, being ill-served by commercially-focused, imitative trash.

We’ve all finished or discarded novels that poisoned our minds for days. Robert Cormier novels come to mind. Or novels feeding on sensational headlines.

Why not enter a world where good will prevails; where the characters are likable folks doing pleasant things (mostly); where the ending is promising and positive?

Such the tone of The Boys of Summers Run, a rural-based novel suitable for ages ten to one hundred. It’s not sugar-coated. Definitely. Yet it can be read in Sunday School. Set in contemporary Pennsylvania, it is a story of family and friendships.

The Boys of Summers Run can be ordered from your corner bookstore or online through Amazon or your account at Barnes & Noble.

EARLIER WORKS

The two earlier works in the series are available. Set in today's rural "P. A.", both are what Barnes & Noble labels "Heartwarmers". They are Summers Run: An American Boyhood and Return to Summers Run.

Order both titles in the Summers Run Series from your local bookstore on the corner. Support and patronize it whenever possible. Here's a link to help you find a store near you . . . . IndieBound
